Matt Damon open to new Bourne franchise entry

Matt Damon has said he remains open to returning for another Bourne film. The actor is inviting story ideas for a potential new installment in the long-running franchise.

In an interview with Parade magazine, Damon noted ongoing efforts to develop fresh material. “We’re always looking to try to get another one of those because we loved it, everyone who worked on them,” he said. “So there’s always some attempt going on to write, to come up with a new story. So if you have anything, let us know.”

The Bourne series, based on Robert Ludlum’s novels, began with The Bourne Identity in 2002 and has produced five films plus a short-lived television spinoff. The movies have earned more than $1.64 billion worldwide. Damon starred in the first three entries and the fifth, while skipping the fourth film.

NBCUniversal acquired rights to the Bourne and Treadstone book series in 2025. Producer Frank Marshall continues to oversee potential future projects alongside Jeffrey Weiner and Ben Smith.
