Neiva opens third summit on water governance

Neiva hosted the opening of the third edition of the Summit on Water Governance, titled “Connecting Experiences for Integrated Water Management”. Held in the upper basin of the Magdalena River, the event aims to contribute to the national policy on water resource management. Directors from various regional environmental corporations are participating.

The third edition of the Summit on Water Governance opened on October 30, 2025, in Neiva, capital of Huila department, in the upper basin of the Magdalena River. Titled “Connecting Experiences for Integrated Water Management”, the gathering brings together experts and officials to support the development and updating of the National Policy on Integrated Water Resource Management.

Key participants include Camilo Agudelo, director of CAM; Olga Lucía Alfonso, director of Cortolima and president of Asocars' board; Diana Mariño, director of Corporinoquia; Claudia Caballero, director of CSB; Yeimy Echavarría, director of Corpoboyacá; and Yesid González, director of Asocars. These regional and international environmental corporations collaborate to share experiences and advance sustainable water management in Colombia.

The summit highlights the role of governance in preserving water resources, particularly in vulnerable areas like the Magdalena River basin, addressing challenges such as scarcity and pollution.
