Courtney A. Kemp's first Netflix series, Nemesis, will premiere on Thursday, May 14, with all eight episodes dropping at once. The hour-long drama stars Matthew Law and Y'lan Noel as characters on opposite sides of the law. It follows an expert criminal clashing with a brilliant police detective.
Courtney A. Kemp, known for creating the Starz crime drama Power, which ran for six seasons until 2020 and has spawned three spin-offs with a prequel titled Power: Origins in development, is set to launch her first Netflix series. Nemesis, where Kemp serves as co-creator and showrunner, stems from a major overall deal she signed with Netflix in 2021. Casting for leads Matthew Law from Abbott Elementary and Y'lan Noel from Insecure was announced last March, alongside a series order for the show. The cast also includes Cleopatra Coleman from The Last Man on Earth, Tre Hale from Platonic, Domenick Lombardozzi from Tulsa King, Jonnie Park from Awkwafina Is Nora From Queens, Ariana Guerra from CSI: Vegas, and others. Described officially as the story of two men on either side of the law, Nemesis explores what happens when an unstoppable force—an expert criminal—meets an immovable object—a brilliant police detective. The series aims to subvert the heist genre with life-or-death stakes, family dynamics, and explosive action, evolving into an examination of what drives, sustains, and destroys us. Netflix has released first-look photos from the production. TVLine reported these details on March 18, 2026.
