The National Transport and Safety Authority has instructed motorists to update their contact details ahead of the minor traffic offences framework rollout on June 1, 2026.
In a notice issued on May 29, 2026, NTSA urged drivers to verify their mobile phone numbers, email addresses, and vehicle registration numbers via the authority’s online portal.
The update aims to ensure motorists receive timely notifications on licences, offences, and compliance requirements under the new framework.
Motorists who commit minor offences will receive a police notice by SMS, email, or personal delivery. They can then admit liability and pay the fine or contest the matter in court.
The framework was developed with the Office of the Attorney General, the National Police Service, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, and the Judiciary following the withdrawal of an earlier instant fine system.
