PAGASA: LPA outside PAR likely to become tropical depression

A low pressure area (LPA) east of the Philippines has a high chance of developing into a tropical depression within 24 hours, according to PAGASA. As of 8 a.m. on Wednesday, December 3, the LPA was estimated 1,190 kilometers east of southeastern Luzon. Meanwhile, former severe tropical storm 'Verbena,' now an LPA, is 475 kilometers west northwest of Pagasa Island, Kalayaan, Palawan.

On Wednesday, December 3, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported on a low pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). The agency stated that the LPA was located 1,190 kilometers east of southeastern Luzon as of 8 a.m., with a high likelihood of becoming a tropical depression within 24 hours.

Additionally, the former severe tropical storm 'Verbena' has weakened into another LPA, now positioned 475 kilometers west northwest of Pagasa Island in Kalayaan, Palawan. It is not yet significantly impacting weather conditions, but PAGASA continues to monitor it closely.

Furthermore, the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and the amihan, or northeast monsoon, will bring rain to various parts of the country. Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi can expect cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the ITCZ. The amihan will cause cloudy skies with rain in Cagayan Valley, Ilocos Norte, Apayao, Kalinga, and Aurora.

The rest of the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Central Luzon may see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains from the amihan. Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA advises the public to stay alert for weather updates to prevent any potential damage from developing weather systems.
