Palmeiras draws goalless with Vitória in Brazilian league

Palmeiras drew 0-0 with Vitória on Wednesday (November 19) at Allianz Parque in an anticipated match of the 37th round of the Brazilian Championship. The result keeps the green-and-white team in second place but misses the chance to close in on Flamengo. Vitória remains in the relegation zone.

The match between Palmeiras and Vitória, played at Allianz Parque in São Paulo, ended goalless on Wednesday (November 19) in an anticipated fixture of the 37th round of the Brazilian Championship. In the first half, both teams created few chances, with Palmeiras protesting a possible penalty in added time.

In the second half, Palmeiras improved and generated the main opportunities. At the 4th minute, Allan stood out with an individual play, shooting powerfully and forcing goalkeeper Thiago Couto to make a save. The best chance came from Aníbal Moreno, who tried from outside the box, but Couto palmed it for a corner.

Allan kept threatening: at the 28th minute, he entered the box and shot, endangering the Bahia side's goal. At the 35th, he attempted a bicycle kick after a long throw-in, but the ball went just over the crossbar. In the end, after the entries of Gustavo Gómez, Vítor Roque, and Felipe Anderson – fresh from their national teams –, Palmeiras pressed. Anderson hit a strong shot from distance in added time, saved by Couto, while Facundo Torres headed for another good stop.

With the draw, Palmeiras has 69 points and four games left, staying in second place, four points behind Flamengo, who have 71 points and five matches remaining. The red-and-black leaders can extend their advantage still on Wednesday against Fluminense. For Vitória, the point does not lift them from the relegation zone.
