Paul Dano joins Possession remake at Paramount

Paul Dano is set to star opposite Callum Turner and Margaret Qualley in a remake of the 1981 horror film Possession at Paramount.

Paul Dano is set to star in the project, which is being directed by Parker Finn from his own script. Finn is producing alongside Jonathan Fass via Bad Feeling, Roy Lee and Andrew Childs via Vertigo, and Robert Pattinson. Marc Bienstock serves as executive producer.

The original Possession was written and directed by Andrzej Żuławski. It starred Isabelle Adjani and Sam Neill as a married couple whose relationship unravels amid supernatural terror in Cold War-era West Berlin. The film won Adjani the Best Actress prize at Cannes.

Finn first announced his version of the story for Paramount in 2024, when Robert Pattinson was in early talks to star. Character details for the new take remain under wraps.
