Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has approved a restructuring of the state's security setup. He appointed retired Brigadier General Nash Yakubu to lead Operation Rainbow.

Governor Mutfwang made the changes through a statement issued on Tuesday by Secretary to the State Government Arc. Samuel Jatau. Retired Brigadier General Nash Yakubu takes over as Coordinator of Operation Rainbow. He served 35 years in the Nigerian Army with experience in operations linked to MASSOB and IPOB crises as well as peacekeeping in Sierra Leone and Sudan.

Brigadier General Gakji Shipi Goshwe was redeployed as Coordinator of the Safe School Programme. He had been acting in the Operation Rainbow role. Major General Bala A. Isandu was named Special Adviser on Security.

The government said the moves take immediate effect. They aim to strengthen protection of lives and property and improve safety in schools across the state. The governor expressed confidence in the appointees' expertise.
