Walif Santos da Silva, known as Brinquedo Ator, was arrested in flagrante on Saturday after stabbing his 23-year-old partner in the face, neck and hand during a fight in São Paulo. Preventive detention was ordered on Sunday by the Court of Justice.
The incident took place at the family home in the Jardim Helena neighborhood in eastern São Paulo. The victim initially told medical staff at the local UPA that she had fallen, but later revealed she had been attacked with a knife by the 32-year-old actor.
Walif was approached by GCM guards at the hospital and taken to the 50th police precinct, where he was indicted for attempted feminicide motivated by gender issues. Civil Police are investigating the context and motive of the violence.
On Sunday the on-duty Court of Justice panel converted the arrest into preventive detention for an indefinite period. The actor’s defense team had not been located by press time. The young woman remains under medical care.
