Russian crypto millionaire dies in fiery Lamborghini crash

Alexei Dolgikh, a 36-year-old Russian cryptocurrency businessman, died when his Lamborghini Urus flipped and burst into flames on a Moscow highway. He was driving three friends at 93mph when he lost control early on November 9, 2025. One passenger also perished, while the other two survived with serious injuries.

The accident occurred around 1:30am on the International Highway in Moscow's Molzhaninovo area. Dolgikh was behind the wheel of his £329,000 Lamborghini Urus, traveling at 93mph—well over the road's speed limit of under 70mph—when he lost control, collided with a crash barrier, and the vehicle flipped upside down. The car smashed into the road and erupted in a huge fire, with parts scattering over a nearby bridge and wads of Russian ruble notes strewn across the highway.

Dolgikh and passenger Ivan Solovyov died instantly at the scene. The other two passengers, Nikita Tezikov, 21, and Kirill Mochalov, 22, suffered critical injuries: Tezikov with an open leg fracture and Mochalov with multiple fractures. Both were rushed to Botkin Hospital and survived.

Dashcam footage captured the moment Dolgikh failed to make a turn and hit the guard rail, leading to the overturn. The Moscow Prosecutor's Office stated: “According to preliminary information, at night on International Highway, the driver of a Lamborghini hit an obstacle, after which the vehicle overturned and caught fire. As a result of the accident, two young guys were killed, two more were hospitalized with injuries. One of the victims has an open leg fracture, the second also has multiple fractures, he was taken to the Botkin hospital. The causes and all the circumstances of the accident are being clarified.”

Investigators cited speeding as the preliminary cause, with prosecutors now overseeing the probe. Dolgikh had faced scrutiny: Russian banks blacklisted him in recent months over money laundering suspicions. Since purchasing the Lamborghini 15 months earlier, he accumulated 586 fines, mostly for speeding.

The vehicle was previously linked to a September 2024 incident in Moscow's Patriarch’s Ponds neighborhood, where a man fired a non-lethal pistol during an argument outside the Aist restaurant and fled in Dolgikh's car before being arrested. Dolgikh reported to police voluntarily, and no charges were filed against him.

This crash marks the second recent death of a prominent Russian crypto figure, following the dismembered remains of trader Roman Novak, 38, and his wife Anna, 37, found in a Dubai desert last week. Three suspects, including Russians tied to Ukraine conflicts, were detained in that case.
