Ruto drives Somali president in rare Polaris vehicle at Kilgoris home

President William Ruto hosted Somalia’s president at his Kilgoris home on Monday and drove him in a 2024 Polaris XPEDITION XP 5 vehicle. The rare off-road machine drew public attention during the visit.

President William Ruto received his Somali counterpart at his Kilgoris home. He personally drove the visitor from the helicopter landing field to the residence in the five-seat Polaris XPEDITION XP 5.

The vehicle is powered by a 999cc ProStar 1000 Gen 2 engine producing 114 horsepower. It features selectable two-wheel and all-wheel drive modes along with a 7-inch RIDE COMMAND touchscreen and JBL audio system.

The XPEDITION XP 5 is estimated to cost Ksh4.27 million. It remains rare in Kenya with only one official distributor based in Malindi for the East Africa region.

Narok County’s rough terrain makes the utility vehicle suitable for local conditions. The automatic model includes a 47.3-litre fuel tank and 907-kilogram towing capacity.
