Saber Interactive unveils Jurassic Park: Survival game details

Saber Interactive has shared new insights into Jurassic Park: Survival, an upcoming first-person action-adventure game set as a direct sequel to the 1993 Jurassic Park film. The title follows InGen scientist Dr. Maya Joshi trapped on Isla Nublar 24 hours after the original events. Players will explore a fully realized version of the island with familiar and new locations across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Game Overview

Jurassic Park: Survival places players in the role of Dr. Maya Joshi, portrayed through motion capture by Payal Mistry. Recruited by Dr. Henry Wu, Joshi must navigate the dangers of Isla Nublar after failing to evacuate during the chaos depicted in Steven Spielberg's classic. The single-player experience emphasizes survival through thrilling encounters with dinosaurs exhibiting adaptive AI behaviors, drawing inspiration from titles like Alien: Isolation.

Locations and Exploration

The game recreates Isla Nublar with high fidelity, including iconic spots from the film such as the Visitor Center's rotating theater and the maze-like kitchen where characters evaded Velociraptors. New areas expand the world, featuring a hotel under construction, surrounding jungles, and river rapids suggesting raft-based traversal. Exploration involves walking challenging terrains, driving jeeps vulnerable to dinosaur attacks, and cautious planning to avoid predators. As creative director Oliver Hollis-Leick noted, 'the island is full of different types of terrain, many of them quite challenging,' requiring players to check routes and move stealthily.

Dinosaurs and Development

Expect encounters with film staples like Velociraptor, Dilophosaurus, and Tyrannosaurus Rex, plus surprise species. Saber Interactive's Matthew Karch assured that 'all the encounters are going to be amazing' with meaningful interactions. Universal's Lisa St Amand highlighted the collaboration: 'We worked really closely with our partners and with Amblin and our filmmakers to make sure that we’re capturing the island and all the dinosaurs in really great detail.' Executive Producer John Melchior added that players will see 'facilities, buildings, attractions that are under construction,' including elements only mentioned in the original film.

Mistry described her character as 'incredibly passionate and adventurous,' relating personally to Joshi's risk-taking nature. First teased in December 2023, the game promises an original story '65 million years in the making,' blending wonder and peril in John Hammond's vision.
