São Paulo city hall has begun talks with MLB to bring baseball games to the Brazilian capital. Tourism secretary Gustavo Lopes will meet an MLB executive in New York on Monday (20) to present the proposal.
The talks remain preliminary. The Ricardo Nunes administration plans to offer Neo Química Arena, home of Corinthians, as the venue for the games.
The meeting was arranged by InvestSP. It forms part of the city’s strategy to expand international sports events after NFL games were held at the arena in 2024 and 2025.
The goal is to attract tourists and stimulate the local economy. City officials believe the NFL experience has strengthened São Paulo’s bid to host other American leagues.
