As of June 30, the state had recorded seven cases. The two patients from São Bernardo do Campo had contact with an infected person in the capital. In the capital, the cases involve six women and five men, aged between five months and 53 years.
The state health secretariat recommends the zero dose of the triple viral vaccine for infants residing in São Paulo, São Bernardo do Campo and Guarulhos. This dose does not replace the routine schedule, which includes the first dose at 12 months and the second at 15 months.
Renato Kfouri of the Brazilian Society of Immunizations highlighted the virus's high transmissibility via aerosols. Brazil regained its measles eradication certificate in November 2024 after losing it in 2018.
