Scott Wolf previews intense Doc season 2 finale

Scott Wolf, who plays Dr. Richard Miller on the Fox drama Doc, has teased that the final episodes of season 2 will involve significant risks for core characters. He warned that not everyone survives the upcoming installments. The show has already been renewed for a third season.

In a recent interview with TVLine, Scott Wolf discussed the conclusion of season 2 of Doc, the Fox medical drama in which he portrays the ethically ambiguous Dr. Richard Miller. Wolf, whose character was absent for the first half of the season, indicated that the last two episodes will be particularly intense. "The last two episodes are, as I understand it, going to be real doozies," Wolf said. "The medical cases are incredible, but there are people within our core group that become at great risk at various points as we move to the end of the season, and not everyone survives."

Wolf refrained from specifying which characters might be in peril but noted that tensions escalate for several key figures. "Things continue to come to a head for Joan, for Amy and Jake, for Michael, really for every character in the building," he explained. The actor praised the show's ability to deliver surprises: "This show always finds a way to surprise and to use everything that's been building through the course of the season to pay things off in an extraordinary way."

Among the characters facing uncertainty is Joan Ridley, played by Felicity Huffman. Joan recently stepped down as chief of internal medicine at Westside Hospital due to her worsening myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). She now intends to prioritize time with her family, including mending her relationship with her estranged son Ethan. However, Wolf suggested that complications could arise.

Regarding his own role, Wolf confirmed that Dr. Miller will appear in all but one of the remaining season 2 episodes. "I can't spoil too much, but Richard's around, doing his work and trying to be a great doctor, and waiting for people to find him again," he stated.

Doc airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on Fox, with the two-hour season 2 finale scheduled for April 14 at 8 p.m. The series received a renewal for season 3 earlier this week, with an order for 22 episodes, ensuring no cliffhanger concerns for viewers.
