Against a backdrop of cautious recovery in China's luxury market, Shanghai Fashion Week (SHFW) announced its Fall/Winter 2026 schedule on March 16, 2026. The provisional calendar includes 66 brands, emphasizing independent designers, regional participation, and commercial momentum. Well-known Chinese creatives such as Feng Chen Wang, Jacques Wei, Susan Fang, Xu Zhi, 8ON8, and Short Sentence—many of whom started building their brands about a decade ago—will return. These labels have evolved from experimental ventures into structured businesses with expanding wholesale networks and global positioning, underscoring Shanghai's importance for Chinese design talent. Labelhood, launched in 2015 to support emerging designers, will host presentations by talents including Mark Gong, Oude Waag, and Garçon by Garçon. Commercial brands show increased presence: Shanghai-based HPLY opens the main venue with Uncharted Journey, featuring sculptural silhouettes, lace elements, and described as a “fairytale for adults.” EP Yaying closes the runway schedule, themed around Eastern aesthetics and contemporary craftsmanship, while also organizing industry talks, buyer previews at the Mode trade show, and public exhibitions. The schedule reflects market diversification, with functional and technology-driven apparel alongside interpretations of Chinese cultural aesthetics. Asian regional engagement continues, including Korean labels YCH and Jarret on the runway, and Seoul's Amomento marking its 10th anniversary. Vietnamese brands return, such as LSOUL—which debuted last year and opened a Shanghai store—Linh Nga Couture, and White Ant. Off-runway, the Mode trade show and independent showrooms facilitate buyer connections, with expected attendees from Antonioli in Italy, Printemps in Paris, and regional retailers. International activations, like those by Maison Margiela, position SHFW as a cultural and commercial hub.
