Shedeur Sanders' home burglarized on NFL debut day

Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders' house was broken into on Sunday, the same day he made his NFL debut in a loss to the Baltimore Ravens. It's unclear if anything was stolen, and no suspects have been identified. Sanders is expected to make his first career start next week against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Shedeur Sanders, 23, entered the Browns' Week 11 game against the Ravens in the second half after starting quarterback Dillon Gabriel entered concussion protocol at halftime. The Browns lost 23-16 after leading 16-10 at the break, managing only four first downs in the second half. Sanders completed 4 of 16 passes for 47 yards with one interception and took two sacks, according to reports; another account lists him as 4 of 12 passing. It was his first time working with the first-team offense, as noted by coach Kevin Stefanski.

'I don't think I played good at all,' Sanders said postgame. 'I think it's a lot of things we need to look at during the week and go and just get comfortable even throwing routes with Jerry [Jeudy] and throwing routes with all those guys. I think that was my first ball to him all year. But other than that, I just think overall we just gotta go next week and understand so then we have a week to prepare stuff I like to do.'

On the game's final drive, Sanders connected with tight end Harold Fannin Jr. for 25 yards and wide receiver Jerry Jeudy for 10 yards, adding a five-yard run, but three straight incompletions ended the threat. The Browns fell to 2-8 on the season.

The burglary occurred while Sanders and the Browns were home for the game, unlike recent incidents targeting other NFL stars like Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and Joe Burrow, which happened during away games. Federal charges were filed in February 2025 against seven men in a South American crime syndicate for related burglaries. Similar crimes have affected NBA players, prompting league warnings.
