President Claudia Sheinbaum warned on Monday, June 15, that any foreign agent entering Mexico must obtain accreditation and comply with the National Security Law.
During her morning press conference, Sheinbaum said the recent talks between Mexican and US officials in Washington should serve as a wake-up call, particularly for US authorities.
“More than anything, we expect that, from all embassies and particularly from the United States, this will have been a wake-up call so that any agents who come to Mexico get accredited and comply with the National Security Law,” she stated.
The president also addressed the T-MEC review. She said the main goal is to sustain the treaty and that, if necessary, she will speak with President Donald Trump.
Sheinbaum noted that Economy Secretary Marcelo Ebrard will lead negotiations this week in Washington. She added that the United States seeks stronger rules of origin, while Mexico defends a regional vision of the agreement.
