South American Table Tennis Championship starts Monday in Santiago

The South American Table Tennis Championship Santiago 2026 begins Monday June 15 at the collective sports center of Parque Estadio Nacional.

Twelve Chilean players will compete in the tournament running through Sunday June 21. The women's team includes Daniela Ortega, Valentina Ríos, Sofía Vega, Tania Zeng, Paulina Vega and Judith Morales. The men's squad features Gustavo Gómez, Nicolás Burgos, Felipe Olivares, Eusebio Vos, Alfonso Olave and Álvaro Fuentes.

The event gathers 61 athletes from eight South American countries. Individual, doubles, mixed doubles and team events will be held. Entry is free.

Nicolás Burgos said he arrives at his best form and the men's team aims to win the gold they captured last year. Tania Zeng noted the women's team is highly motivated to compete at home and that playing before Chilean crowds will be an advantage.
