The Pittsburgh Steelers are doing homework on quarterback Brendan Sorsby ahead of the NFL Supplemental Draft in July. Analysts and coaches have weighed in on his potential fit with the team.
The Steelers continue to evaluate Sorsby, who declared for the Supplemental Draft after a gambling issue ended his college career early. He transferred to Texas Tech for the 2026 season but will not play there.
Analyst Steve Palazzolo said on 93.7 The Fan that Sorsby is a slightly better prospect than Drew Allar. He noted Sorsby’s stronger running ability and overall tools, though Allar posted solid passing numbers in limited 2025 action.
Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti endorsed Sorsby during a Rich Eisen Show appearance. “I think he’s an outstanding quarterback and a great kid,” Cignetti said. “I think he’s going to be a great pro with the proper support to overcome some of the issues he’s had.”
The team already has quarterbacks Will Howard and Drew Allar on the roster. Discussions continue about whether adding Sorsby makes sense given the risks involved.
