Strong winds and dust storm hit Delhi as IMD issues orange alert

Delhi-NCR experienced a sudden weather shift with strong winds and dust storms prompting the India Meteorological Department to issue an orange alert.

On Thursday, Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 40.6 degrees Celsius, the hottest day of the month. Strong winds swept across several areas in the evening and night, accompanied by dust storms in parts of the national capital.

The India Meteorological Department issued an orange alert for multiple zones including North Delhi, South Delhi, and others. A yellow alert remains active for light rain in Gautam Buddh Nagar and Ghaziabad.

According to the IMD, wind speeds may reach 40 to 60 kilometres per hour. Officials noted a temperature drop of 10 to 11 degrees after 8 pm. Light rain and cloudy conditions are likely in the coming hours.
