Sweden's table tennis team beats Hungary but Karlsson injured

Sweden's men's table tennis team advanced in the World Team Championships after a 3–0 win over Hungary in the round of 16. Truls Möregårdh started with a victory over Adam Szudi, 12–10, 11–5, 11–5, after a shaky beginning. Anton Källberg defeated Hungary's top player Andras Csaba 3–1 in sets.

Kristian Karlsson, playing his first match after becoming a father, sealed the win against David Szantosi. Leading 2–0 in sets and 8–7 in the third, he injured his groin, received treatment, and won the set 13–11.

Karlsson broke down in tears after the match. "Now it's over," he told Radiosporten. "It's the same injury I got in China a month ago. [...] It's the third time in two years I've had this injury and I'm not getting younger," the 34-year-old added.

Karlsson will likely be replaced by Elias Ranefur, who contributed to the upset win over China on Sunday. Sweden faces Croatia in the round of 16 on Wednesday.
