Tarun Fizer is set to join Södertälje SK in Sweden's HockeyAllsvenskan after winning the Kelly Cup with the Florida Everblades. The 25-year-old forward will fly to Sweden on August 12 for his first time leaving North America.
Fizer spoke to HockeyNews about the decision after conversations with head coach Andreas Johansson. He described the move as a no-brainer following the team's offer at the end of the season.
The forward recorded 41 points in 56 regular-season games and added nine points in 12 playoff games. He missed the finals due to injury but returned to full health after the title win.
Fizer said he wanted to experience something new in Europe despite positive times in the AHL and ECHL. He expects a larger ice surface and more skills-oriented play in Sweden.
He aims to earn coaches' trust and contribute in all situations while adapting to the new culture and language.
