Tenerife B defeats Orihuela and keeps top spot
CD Tenerife B beat Orihuela CF 2-1 in an away match, preserving their undefeated streak at the top of the table. Goals from Juan Ybarra and Viti in the first half secured the lead for coach Leandro Cabrera's side. Orihuela pulled one back but couldn't level the score.
CD Tenerife B's reserve team secured a vital away win at Orihuela's Los Arcos Stadium, triumphing 2-1 in a match featuring two penalties. Leandro Cabrera's side started strongly, controlling possession against a solid Orihuela defense.
The opener came in the 16th minute as Juan Ybarra converted a penalty after Marc fouled him during a left-wing run. In the 22nd, Viti doubled the lead with a deft outside-of-the-foot shot following a long ball from Trilla, beating keeper Buigues one-on-one. Viti nearly made it three before halftime in another duel, while Aragoneses denied Lara's long-range effort for the hosts.
Orihuela pushed forward after the break and narrowed the gap in the 55th with Solsona's penalty. The home side created chances, including Lara's shot that grazed the post, but Tenerife B focused on defense and weathered late pressure with occasional counters.
Referee Carlos Castell Orozco issued yellow cards to Marc, Solano, Fran Rivera, and Booker for Orihuela, and to Julen, Kevin, Trilla, and Joel for Tenerife B. The game was on poor-condition natural grass, attended by about 2500 fans on a sunny morning.
