Tesla has begun rolling out its 2026 Summer Update to customer vehicles, adding new traction control modes for the Model 3 and Model Y.
The update introduces three traction control modes. Drivers can select Auto for normal conditions, Slippery Surface for icy or wet roads, or Stuck Assist when the vehicle is trapped in snow, mud, or sand.
Tesla said the mode resets to Auto at the start of each drive. Users access the settings through Controls > Dynamics > Traction Control Mode.
The feature arrives alongside other changes in the Summer Update, including improved navigation that prioritizes familiar routes and new options in the Tesla smartphone app. The update began reaching vehicles on July 26, 2026.
