Tesla to add screenshare feature in software update 2025.38

Tesla is introducing a screenshare service in its upcoming software update 2025.38, enabling remote viewing of the vehicle's center touchscreen. The feature, discovered by Tesla hacker green, will include a notification and a four-digit PIN for security. Details on its exact use cases remain unclear.

Tesla hacker green, known on X as @greentheonly, recently dissected the code for software update 2025.38 and identified a new "screenshare" service. This feature allows exporting the car's center screen for remote viewing, with a notification appearing on the display and secured by a static four-digit PIN.

In a post on October 17, 2025, green wrote: "hm, have not noticed at first, but 2025.38 also brings in a “screenshare” service to export the car screen so you can view it remotely (details are unclear yet). When you do it there’s going to be a notification on the screen. Secured by a super-duper static 4-digits pin…"

The potential applications are speculative but include remote support, similar to Apple's approach for troubleshooting products. This could be particularly useful for Tesla's Robotaxi service, where resolving customer issues might require accessing the screen without an on-site employee.

The feature extends to vehicles with both AMD and Intel processors, broadening its availability across Tesla's fleet. It may also support content creation, such as sharing Full Self-Driving videos or Driver Visualization feeds.

Tesla has not yet detailed the screenshare's purposes, but further information is expected upon release. Owners are anticipating how it will benefit both users and the company in diagnostics and beyond.
