Tyson Foerster out 2-3 months with upper-body injury

Philadelphia Flyers forward Tyson Foerster is expected to miss 2-3 months due to an upper-body injury sustained during Monday's game. He left the 5-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins with 13:39 remaining in the second period after taking a shot on goal. Foerster had scored his team-leading 10th goal earlier in the period.

The injury occurred in the second period of the Flyers' 5-1 defeat to the Penguins on Monday. Foerster, who has recorded 13 points in 21 games this season, is a key contributor on special teams, logging 2:19 of ice time per game on the power play and 1:28 on the penalty kill.

Flyers center Noah Cates commented on the setback, saying, "It [stinks] seeing a teammate or anyone go down. Just such an important part of our team, our core, special teams, everything like that."

This marks another injury challenge for Foerster, who missed four games last month with a lower-body injury sustained while blocking a shot in a 5-2 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Nov. 1. He also sat out time during training camp due to an elbow injury from playing for Canada at the 2025 IIHF World Championship.

A first-round pick (No. 23) by the Flyers in the 2020 NHL Draft, Foerster has tallied 96 points (58 goals, 38 assists) in 187 career games over four seasons.

In response to the injury, the Flyers recalled forward Carl Grundstrom from Lehigh Valley of the American Hockey League on Tuesday. The team, holding a 14-8-3 record, faces the Buffalo Sabres next at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
