Volvo leads with 47% of Colombia's premium electrified market

Volvo has solidified its dominant position in Colombia's premium electrified vehicle market, capturing 47% of the total share this year. In the premium plug-in SUV segment, the Swedish brand holds 51% of the national market. This leadership stems largely from the success of models like the EX30, the country's best-selling premium electric vehicle.

In 2025, Volvo, represented in Colombia by Astara, sold 1,232 electrified vehicles registered from January to November, accounting for one in every two cars in the premium category. The fully electric EX30 model has been pivotal in this growth, with 767 units sold in the same period and ranking among the top five electric vehicles sold nationwide.

In specific segments, Volvo holds 58% of the premium plug-in hybrid market, driven by the XC60, the top choice among Colombian buyers. For premium 100% electric SUVs, the brand leads with 49%, thanks to the EX30 and the EX40-EC40 line, which have redefined sector standards. In premium plug-in hybrid SUVs, Volvo commands 61%, with standout models like the XC60 and XC90.

Astara, which manages nine brands in the country including Volvo, saw a 51% increase in registered units from November 2024 to November 2025, rising from 11,700 to 17,674. Andrés Aguirre, Astara Colombia's country manager, credits this progress to “a clear strategy, a team that executes coherently, and a value proposition that evolves with the Colombian consumer.”

This performance highlights the rising adoption of electrified vehicles in Colombia, where Volvo stands out as a benchmark for luxury and sustainability.

Despite common misconceptions about EVs in cold weather, the cars provided strong traction and safety, with manageable range challenges. Norway's high EV adoption rates underscore their viability in harsh winters.
