The Abiy Ahmed Library in Addis Ababa is emerging as a major knowledge center, according to the head of the city's administration communication bureau, Abeb. The library has launched digital systems to improve its services.
On Hidar 25, 2018 EFMSI (approximately November 3, 2025 Gregorian), digital systems were launched at the Abiy Ahmed Library in Addis Ababa. The event was attended by the Addis Ababa City Council Speaker, library board members, and high-ranking officials.
Bureau head Abeb stated that the library, established under the initiative of Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed, is emerging as a major knowledge center in the capital. She highlighted its role in disseminating knowledge and skills to lay the foundation for Ethiopia's development journey.
Abeb noted that the digital systems will enhance the quality and efficiency of reading services. They will enable researchers to easily access materials for their studies and research. In the future, the public will be able to use the library 24 hours a day, she added. Director Muluken Tariku emphasized that the 24-hour service meets public demands for reading. These systems will improve service delivery.
