Addis Ababa – The African Union's Executive Council ordinary session took place today in Addis Ababa. The main summit will be held on Ketit 7 and 8 in the same city.
In preparation, the Addis Ababa Transport Bureau has banned motorcycle taxis in the city starting from tomorrow, Ketit 4, until Monday, Ketit 10, 2018. The bureau states this restriction is to safeguard security and road traffic service units. Motorcycle owners and riders have been urged to park their vehicles until the designated day. The bureau has warned of strict measures against violators.
At the same time, the Addis Ababa Hotels Owners Association has begun welcoming African Union summit delegations. Association President W/ro Aster Solomon stated that hotels have made the necessary preparations to showcase Ethiopian hospitality culture. The services will be modern, secure, and infused with Ethiopian culture, they noted. In particular, coffee ceremonies, traditional foods, clothing, and musicians will be featured. They committed to providing high-quality services at affordable prices. Efforts are underway in coordination with relevant bodies to prevent disruptions in water, electricity, telephone, and other services.
Foreign ministers from various African countries are arriving in Addis Ababa starting from tomorrow to participate in the 48th African Union Executive Council ordinary session. The association has called on everyone to contribute to strengthening Ethiopia's conference tourism.
