Amazon flooded with AI-written guides for unreleased games

AI-generated guidebooks for games that have not yet been released are appearing on Amazon. The books feature hallucinated content based on online information and are listed for sale at prices over $20.

The phenomenon includes titles such as Alien: Isolation 2 with an unknown release date, Control: Resonant scheduled for September 24, and Gears of War: E-Day on October 6. Each book uses AI-generated covers and text, including novel-style chapters on non-existent features like survival mechanics.

Rick’s Game Backlog documented examples where tables of contents appear as hyperlinks without page numbers. One guide for Gears of War: E-Day begins with a generic sales description instead of actual content.

Amazon customer support was contacted about the listings and initially removed some titles, but they reappeared shortly afterward. Similar AI-written guides exist for both unreleased and released games from authors including George D. Brogon and Donald C. Campbell.

The issue coincides with Amazon’s $50 billion investment in OpenAI and the platform’s integration of its Rufus AI tool.
