Analyst sees DK Metcalf as Steelers' most volatile receiver

Yahoo Sports analyst Matt Harmon described DK Metcalf as the Pittsburgh Steelers' most volatile wide receiver ahead of the upcoming season. Harmon expressed concern that Metcalf's target share could decline following offseason additions to the position group.

Harmon made the comments on the Reception Perception podcast. He noted Metcalf's $32 million annual salary and said the receiver is likely to see fewer targets.

Last season Metcalf recorded 59 receptions on 99 targets while no other wide receiver on the roster exceeded 31 catches. The Steelers added Michael Pittman Jr. via trade and drafted Germie Bernard this offseason.

Harmon called Metcalf the highest-upside player in the room but predicted a static role as the clear X receiver. He said the offense may not feature much motion.

Pittman has a track record as a reliable target while Bernard remains unproven. Harmon said more weapons are needed for the offense overall.
