Andre Chase has shared details from a 2023 NXT title match pitch that did not go as planned for his group. He also explained his business-based arguments against splitting Chase U in 2024.
At NXT Vengeance Day 2023, New Day defended the NXT Tag Team Titles in a four-way match against Gallus, Chase U and Pretty Deadly. Gallus won the match.
Chase recalled being told there was a pitch for Chase U to win the titles. He said New Day was asked if they were ready to drop the titles to Chase and Duke Hudson, but were then informed the plan was for Gallus instead.
Chase U won the titles three months later at NXT Halloween Havoc. The group was split in 2024 after Chase lost to Ridge Holland on the November 19 episode of NXT.
Chase said officials told him the split decision without explanation. He argued from a business perspective that Chase U sold high merchandise numbers comparable to champions and drew strong reactions, but was told the direction was already set.
