Arizona man charged with murdering father after attack

A 39-year-old man in Arizona has been charged with first-degree murder after allegedly attacking his parents at their home in Tucson, leaving his father dead.

Tyler Lachmann allegedly pummeled both parents without provocation on June 28 at their residence. His 72-year-old mother was slammed to the concrete while his 73-year-old father was also beaten.

The mother helped her husband to bed after the assault ended, changed his clothes, and checked on him through the night. She found him dead the next morning and initially told police that two masked men had robbed them.

Prosecutors say Lachmann was on pretrial release for another felony case at the time. He faces additional accusations of threatening his girlfriend's mother with a gun in April.

Lachmann is scheduled to appear for a bond hearing on July 6 and a preliminary hearing on July 10. He remains held without bond.
