The European Space Agency confirmed that asteroid (152637) 1997 NC1 will pass near Earth this weekend in its closest approach in 400 years.
There is no risk of the asteroid hitting the planet. It will be visible through commercial telescopes and astronomical binoculars from different parts of the world over several nights.
The agency stated that observers in various regions can watch the event during the coming days. No special equipment beyond standard astronomical tools is required for viewing.
