India posted 251-9 in their 50 overs, starting strongly with a 78-run opening partnership between Pratika Rawal (52) and Smriti Mandhana (31). However, the middle order collapsed, losing three wickets for just five runs, before captain Harmanpreet Kaur steadied the innings with 54 off 66 balls. Rishika Ghosh added 22 late fireworks, but Australia's spinners Ash Gardner (2-39) and Alana King (2-41) were pivotal in restricting the total.
In the chase, Australia lost captain Alyssa Healy early to Kashvee Gautam's yorker for single figures, but opener Phoebe Litchfield (80) and Georgia Voll rebuilt with a dominant partnership. Litchfield reached her half-century and 2000 international runs, while Voll brought up her 50 and then her century in the 31st over, though she fell soon after for 100. Beth Mooney contributed 31, and Ashleigh Gardner hit the winning four in the 37th over, sealing a 252-5 victory.
Post-match, Voll praised her partnership with Litchfield: “We keep things pretty simple to be honest. She was smashing them down the other end and I took a little while to get going. Once I started feeling the ball nicely I could expand my game a little bit and similar with her. Obviously we complement each other quite well and we just love batting together.”
India captain Harmanpreet Kaur later admitted batting errors contributed to the back-to-back defeats, saying the team repeated the same mistakes. Australia now leads the multi-format series 6-4, with the third ODI set for Sunday in Hobart before a Test in Perth.
