A24's Backrooms is tracking for a robust domestic opening this weekend. The horror film has already collected $10.4 million in Thursday night previews. Projections now stand at $76 million to $79 million for the three-day frame.
The Kane Parsons-directed feature, co-financed by A24 and Chernin Entertainment, played in 3,442 theaters on Friday and took in $33 million to $35 million that day. Previews began at 4 p.m. Thursday and outperformed several recent genre titles including Scream 7 and John Wick: Chapter 4. The film marks the best opening ever for A24, surpassing Civil War's $25.5 million debut in 2024.
