Bengaluru police return 692 recovered mobile phones to owners

The North East Division police returned 692 mobile phones worth around ₹1.75 crore to their owners during a programme in Bengaluru.

Two weeks after recovering the devices, the North East Division police handed them back on Sunday at Kuvempu Hall in GKVK. The phones were traced through the Central Equipment Identity Register Portal from stations across the division.

Officials used the event to highlight the rise in cybercrime, noting that nearly 90% of such offences involve mobile platforms. They warned citizens against suspicious links and online investment schemes that often lead to financial losses.

The police urged people to report lost phones via the CEIR Portal and to contact the Cyber Helpline 1930 immediately in cases of fraud. They also advised against sharing OTPs or scanning unknown QR codes.
