Biogas-powered garbage truck caught fire in residential area outside Boden

A garbage truck running on biogas caught fire shortly before lunch on Monday in Heden outside Boden. The area was cordoned off due to explosion risk but no one was injured.

The incident occurred in a residential area and police temporarily evacuated the zone. The driver, employed by one of BDX suppliers, exited the vehicle unharmed. BDX communications chief Fredrik Palmquist stressed that the company has not experienced similar incidents before. He stated that biogas is a proven technology and operations will continue unchanged. Boden municipality has used biogas as fuel since 2005. All municipal trucks and more than 70 percent of passenger cars run on the fuel under the municipal policy.
