Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya criticized pundits for presenting inaccurate data, calling it an 'inflation of pundits'. He warned against statements that create anxiety about Indonesia among the public. The remarks were made at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Friday (April 10, 2026).
Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) Teddy Indra Wijaya highlighted a phenomenon of 'pundit inflation,' where experts from irrelevant backgrounds deliver erroneous data. "There are rice pundits, but their background isn't in that. There are military pundits, foreign affairs pundits. And those pundits' data doesn't match facts, it's wrong," he told reporters at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Friday (April 10, 2026).
Teddy said these pundits have tried to shape public opinion even before Prabowo Subianto became president. Yet, over 96 million citizens trust Prabowo more than them. "The fact is, more than 96 million citizens trust Pak Prabowo more. They don't trust them. That's real proof of public trust," he added.
He welcomed criticism based on facts and field data, but not statements causing anxiety. "Feel free to criticize. But don't make statements leading to anxiety. Don't make people anxious about this country. Everything is stable, everything is under control," he said.
Teddy hoped the public would pray for Indonesia's good and that the government accepts criticism for future improvements.
