The Central Bureau of Investigation arrested a Latur-based doctor and a Pune physics teacher on May 27, bringing the total number of people detained in the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case to 13.
The two new suspects were identified as Dr Manoj Shirure and Tejas Harshadkumar Shah. Officials said Shirure helped three students obtain leaked chemistry questions from an earlier arrestee, P V Kulkarni. Shah allegedly received leaked physics questions from Manisha Havaldar and passed them to students at a Pune coaching centre.
A Delhi court sent Shirure and Shah to CBI custody until June 1. It also ordered Kulkarni and Shivraj Raghunath into 14-day judicial custody until June 10. The agency has conducted searches at 49 locations and seized documents, laptops and phones.
The NTA cancelled the exam on May 12 after overlaps were found with guess papers. Over 22 lakh students had taken the test on May 3. The CBI investigation continues to trace the full network behind the leaks.
