Cold front number 12 to enter Mexico this Saturday

On Saturday, November 1, 2025, cold front number 12 will begin affecting northern and northeastern Mexico, causing temperature drops, rain, and strong winds. Winter conditions are expected in several states, with possible frost in mountainous areas. The system's trajectory will extend toward the Gulf of Mexico and the southeast in the following days.

Cold front number 12 will enter the country on Saturday, November 1, initially impacting the north and northeast. Accompanied by an upper-level trough and interactions with polar and subtropical jet streams, it will cause a marked temperature drop, rain, showers, and wind gusts in states such as Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León, and Tamaulipas. In these areas, winds of 50 to 70 km/h are forecast, with possible dust devils.

Rain will concentrate in Nuevo León and Tamaulipas, while Veracruz and parts of Tamaulipas may see showers with electrical activity in the Huasteca Alta, Huasteca Baja, and Totonaca regions. A low-pressure channel in the west, combined with Pacific moisture, will produce showers with lightning in Colima, Michoacán, Guerrero, Oaxaca, and Chiapas. Isolated rains are also expected in Nayarit, Jalisco, Morelos, Mexico City, State of Mexico, and Hidalgo.

Moist air from the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea will generate scattered rains in Veracruz (Nautla, Capital, Las Montañas, and Sotavento), Puebla (Sierra Norte, Sierra Nororiental, and Mixteca), Quintana Roo, and Yucatán. Precipitation probability will be low elsewhere in the country.

Regarding temperatures, highs of 35 to 40 °C are expected in Baja California Sur, Sonora, Sinaloa, Jalisco, southwest Chihuahua, San Luis Potosí, Tamaulipas, and Oaxaca. In the center, south, and southeast, highs will range from 30 to 35 °C. Mornings may see lows of -5 to 0 °C with frost in mountainous areas of Chihuahua and Durango, and 0 to 5 °C in mountains of Baja California, Sonora, Nuevo León, Zacatecas, Michoacán, Guanajuato, Hidalgo, Puebla, Tlaxcala, State of Mexico, Veracruz, and Oaxaca.

The trajectory will continue on Sunday, November 2, over the Gulf of Mexico coast, with heavy rains in Puebla, Veracruz, Oaxaca, Chiapas, and Tabasco, very strong winds in the Isthmus and Gulf of Tehuantepec, and temperature drops with frost in the north, northeast, center, and east. On Monday, November 3, the system will move over the Yucatán Peninsula and Caribbean Sea, maintaining punctual heavy rains in the southeast, with intense winds in the Isthmus, Gulf of Tehuantepec, and southeast coasts, plus low temperatures in the north and center.
