Couple from Mattmar wins this year's Näcken i bäcken

Asuka and Jonas Staf from Mattmar won the jury's main prize in the Näcken i bäcken competition held in Hackås on July 9.

The competition, which has been held for more than thirty years, featured four acts this year. The Staf couple performed music inspired by both Japanese and Sami traditions, including on koto and with joik.

The audience prize went to Ross Campbell. Organizer Adrian Reinmann called the event the best ever.

Jonas Staf described the competition as Sweden's most special event. The number of participants was somewhat lower than usual this year.
