Dalarna prepares for summer with reduced healthcare staff

Region Dalarna enters summer with staff shortages at health centers and fewer ambulances. Patients with less acute issues may face longer wait times.

Region Dalarna plans to reduce some planned care during the vacation period to staff the inpatient care that is needed. Health and medical care director Åsa Dedering says she is not worried that care will function during the summer.

Staffing at the county's health centers will decrease by about 50 percent during the summer. It has been particularly difficult to resolve the staffing situation in northern Dalarna.

From June 8 to August 21 there will be two fewer ambulances in the county. However, staffing will be strengthened during events such as Vansbrosimningen and Classic car week.

At the same time the journal system Cosmic increases the burden on care staff. The region's chief physician continuously follows up on deviations within patient safety work.
