Denis Shapovalov details recovery from rib and shoulder injuries

Denis Shapovalov has shared details of his recent injuries and confirmed his return to competition at next week's Mexico Open in Los Cabos.

The Canadian player fractured a rib during his first-round match at Queen's Club earlier this month. He won that match against Jack Pinnington Jones but later lost to Alex de Minaur.

Shapovalov then competed at Wimbledon despite the rib issue. A shoulder injury occurred when he crashed into the barrier during his first-round match against Pablo Carreño Busta, leading to his retirement.

"A couple of weeks ago in my first round match in Queen's, I fractured my rib," Shapovalov wrote. "I gave my best efforts to try to play through Wimbledon where unfortunately I further sustained a shoulder injury during the match."

He added that he has been training with his team and is happy to be back on court. Shapovalov enters the Los Cabos event, where he is the defending champion, with a 9-14 record this season.
