Candidate Edgar Muñoz Torres issued a direct challenge to his rival Triana in the race for Huila's House of Representatives seat. He stated that the department needs effective management and representatives with proven results. His campaign highlights changes in security, health, and agricultural development.
The political landscape in Huila heated up with statements from Edgar Muñoz Torres, candidate for the House of Representatives on the Cambio Radical ticket. In an interview with LA NACIÓN, Muñoz, a psychologist trained in public health and former mayor of Pitalito, declared: “El Huila necesita gestión, necesita un representante con resultados” (Huila needs management, needs a representative with results). He emphasized that his bid seeks deep change in local politics, moving away from continuity.
Muñoz grounds his proposal in “Gerencia Diligente” (Diligent Management), an approach he used during his mayoral term to manage resources and execute visible public works. He criticizes repeated promises and highlights his grassroots efforts in neighborhoods and rural areas to build territorial support.
On security, he proposes “autoridad técnica” (technical authority) against drug trafficking and illegal arms possession, arguing that without territorial control, there is no strong commerce, competitive agriculture, or incoming investment. For health, he aims to cut intermediaries and channel resources directly to hospitals, making Huila a national priority.
His legislative agenda covers financially viable projects, rigorous political oversight of ministries and strategic contracts, direct management of more resources, and constant presence with communities. In agriculture, dominated by coffee, he advocates for agroindustry and added value, plus rural road improvements for competitiveness.
Addressing youth, he pledges opportunities in technical education, professional training, and entrepreneurship, backed by security to keep talent local. He defends the family as a social cornerstone. He concludes by urging votes for number 104, supported by Víctor Feliz Tovar, to strengthen Cambio Radical in Huila.
