Ella from Nybro is Sweden's youngest candidate in the election

Ella Nyström turns 18 on election day September 13 and is running for the Social Democrats in Nybro.

Ella Nyström, a student on the health and social care programme at Åkrahällskolan, was nominated by SSU to the Social Democrats' municipal list in Nybro. She is placed 14th on the ballot.

– It is completely crazy really, she says about getting to vote and run at the same time.

If the Social Democrats keep or increase their 13 seats in the council she could be elected. She would then like to work on LSS care, integration and schools.

Several other 17-year-olds are also running in the municipal election and turn 18 around election day, according to the Election Authority.
