Esports Wales partners with FAW for FIFAe tournament entry

Esports Wales has teamed up with the Football Association of Wales to field a national team in this year's FIFAe tournament. The partnership involves an Expression of Interest process to scout talent for competitions in Rocket League and eFootball. Players across all experience levels are invited to apply for potential opportunities.

Esports Wales announced on February 22, 2026, a collaboration with the Football Association of Wales to participate in the FIFAe tournament. This initiative aims to identify and develop Welsh talent for international esports competitions.

The process begins with an Expression of Interest (EOI) form, open to gamers of varying skill levels. Esports Wales will evaluate submissions based on results from the Welsh Esports league, prior tournament experience, and overall performance. Successful candidates may advance to trials and selection for the national team.

The tournaments feature two key games: Rocket League and eFootball, Konami's football simulation title used in FIFAe events. Wales will compete against teams from countries worldwide. The eFootball portion starts on April 14, while the Rocket League event concludes the series on July 16.

Wales brings a solid track record to the table. The nation previously placed seventh in the European Championship for Rocket League and secured a gold medal at the Commonwealth Esports Championships in Birmingham. In eFootball, Wales has earned silver and bronze medals at the same championships, along with strong showings in events organized by the European Esports Federation and the International Esports Federation.

John Jackson, CEO of Esports Wales, expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity. "We were disappointed not to be involved last season, but we’re really looking forward to showing what Wales can do in these tournaments," he said. "This is a great opportunity to showcase some of the incredible Welsh talent we know exists across eFootball and Rocket League, and to give players a clear route to representing their country."

This partnership aligns with Esports Wales's mission to foster competitive gaming from grassroots levels to elite international representation, providing transparent pathways for aspiring players.
