EXO to release eighth studio album 'REVERXE' on Monday

K-pop group EXO is set to make a comeback with its eighth studio album, 'REVERXE', after more than two years. The album features six members and includes the lead single 'Crown'. It marks the band's first full-length release since 'EXIST' in 2023.

South Korean boy band EXO will return to the music scene on Monday with 'REVERXE', their eighth studio album, announced by SM Entertainment. The release, scheduled for 6 p.m., comprises nine tracks and represents the group's first studio album since 'EXIST' dropped in July 2023.

The album highlights contributions from six members: Suho, Chanyeol, D.O., Kai, Sehun, and Lay. Notably absent are Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin, who are involved in an ongoing contract dispute with the agency and thus not participating.

Leading the project is the single 'Crown', a hard dance track that fuses Atlanta-style trap drums, heavy metal guitar riffs, and EDM synthesizers. Its lyrics convey a desperate commitment to safeguarding a cherished individual, symbolized by a crown. Additional tracks include the seasonal 'I'm Home' and 'Suffocate', which explores the anguish of separation.

A music video for 'Crown' will premiere on EXO's official YouTube channel concurrently with the album. The video showcases choreography where the members enact the symbolic act of claiming and donning a crown.

EXO, originally a nine-member outfit, paused activities in 2019 as members undertook mandatory military service. Sehun, the final enlistee, finished his term in September, paving the way for the group's revival. They kicked off renewed engagements with a fan meet-and-greet in December.
