A group of fans has initiated WHOLENEW.WORLD, a preservation project dedicated to cataloging the career of SOPHIE, the influential Scottish electronic artist who died in a 2021 accident in Athens. The site already features live sets spanning from 2010 to 2020, with plans to include official releases, photoshoots, and interviews. Organizers stated they will not host leaked material but will provide details on it to counter misinformation about her work. The project generates no revenue and keeps all content free, unaffiliated with SOPHIE's estate or former labels. They invite fans who attended her shows, collaborated with her, or know about her lost SoundCloud tracks to contribute information via a contact link. SOPHIE released two studio albums during her lifetime: 'Product' in 2015 and 'Oil Of Every Pearl’s Un-Insides' in 2018. She influenced artists including Charli XCX, Vince Staples, FKA twigs, Jack Antonoff, and Sam Smith. Following her death, her team described her as “a pioneer of a new sound” and an “icon of liberation.” Christine and the Queens called her “a stellar producer, a visionary, a reference” who “rebelled against the narrow, normative society.” Bring Me the Horizon's Oli Sykes praised her work as “incredibly stimulating” and proof that genres can evolve. A 2024 posthumous album was released, earning a three-star NME review that noted its inventive qualities despite not fully realizing her vision. Charli XCX thanked SOPHIE during her 2025 BRIT Awards wins, and a scholarship supports emerging female, trans, and non-binary creatives in her name.
